A large double gate opens into the drive that leads to the main house and La maison des amis, as well as the stable and the impressive barn. To the left of the drive nestles the old well, from which the farm takes its name, Le puits d'eau claire (the well of the clear water). The water from the well is used to water the garden. On the eastern side of the house an old bread oven has been restored and is now used to store wine bottles!

The farm buildings date from 1785, four years before the French revolution. The farm house and the cottage were renovated 15 years ago and retain most of their charm and many of their 220 year old original features. The house was built using the localy produced Touraine lime stone. It has an excellent aspect facing south with unlimited views over the fields and enjoys the sun throughout the day. A wisteria planted by the first owners of the farm still covers the front of the house and it fills the air with delicate blossom scent throughout April to late Summer .
